People often assume bigger windows are always better.
In reality, better-positioned windows usually have a bigger impact.
A thoughtfully placed window can improve privacy, frame a beautiful view, flood a room with natural light, and create a stronger connection to the outdoors—all while preserving wall space for furniture.
One question we hear all the time…
“Won’t dark cabinets make the space feel smaller?”
Actually, they often do the opposite.
The contrast gives the room depth and allows the natural wood to stand out instead of competing with it.
Paired with light countertops and warm pine, the space feels balanced, clean, and timeless.
Sometimes one design choice changes the entire feel of a room.
Would you choose dark cabinetry or keep everything natural wood?
Why we love adding a loft to a cabin:
A loft isn’t just about creating more sleeping space.
It gives kids and guests a place that’s theirs.
It creates separation without closing off the home.
And it adds flexibility as your family’s needs change over the years.
Some design choices add value.
Others add memories.
A loft does both! Save this post if a loft is on your cabin wish list.
Metal board & batten has become a popular choice for cabin owners looking for a clean, modern look with minimal upkeep. Unlike wood, it won’t require regular staining or repainting and stands up well to harsh Canadian weather year after year.
This cabin showcases the warmth of natural wood, as well as metal board & batten which offers a sleek, low-maintenance alternative that’s built to last! Which would you choose? Contact us to start designing your custom home today!
At Knotty Pine Cabins, every design is customized to meet your local building codes, engineering requirements, climate conditions, and regional specifications — so you can build with confidence no matter where your property is located! Ready to bring your dream cabin to life?
